English Year 3
What are the aims of the Year 3 English units?
Our Year 3 English units provide a platform for pupils to develop their understanding of writing for different purposes and audiences. Pupils will further develop their understanding of basic story structures, including the opening, build-up, climax and resolution. Through the PKC, pupils are instilled with the knowledge to develop their vocabulary and understanding of grammar within the context of the lesson.
What can teachers expect from our Year 3 English units?
The units will guide pupils to apply knowledge built from our history, geography, science curricula into writing outcomes, as well as utilising classical texts, traditional tales, and folktales to inspire writing.
The PKC English Year 3 units cover:
- Explanation text: The Digestive System
- Non-chronological report: Light
- Narrative: ‘Peter Pan’
